Luke Rockhold started his career by playing Mike Martinez for the Melee on the Mountain Promotion. He played so well that he dominated the fight to win through armbar submission before the last half of the game. His second promotion fight was in 2007 November. This fight did not favour him as he was defeated by his opponent, Tony Rubalcava through a technical knock-out.
