Laverne was born in Mobile, Alabama. She studied at Indiana University Bloomington but later transferred to Marymount Manhattan College. Cox is a transgender woman and advocate of LGBT community. Her by far most famous role is Sophia Burset on Netflix original series Orange Is the New Black. She also appeared on Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce and Faking It.
Career
Cox made her television debut in 2008; that year, she appeared in episodes of both “Law & Order” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.” More significantly, she appeared as a contestant on the first season of the VH1 reality series “I Want to Work for Diddy.” Following this, VH1 approached Cox about giving her a show of her own. This resulted in the makeover series “TRANSform Me,” on which Cox became the first black transgender person to star on and produce her own show.
Personal Life
She started dating Kyle Draper in the year 2017 on Tinder. Both of them also shared pictures on social media platforms, but they broke up in 2019 due to some personal differences. She is quite open about her relationships and life due to which she is a motivation for every human.
